A Suppression of Cellular Immunity in Patients with Multiple Sclerosis

چکیده
Many authors have entertained the possibility, mainly on epidemiological grounds, that multiple sclerosis is a consequence of a disease acquired in childhood (1). Among the number of common childhood infectious agents that have been impliacted in this disease, viral agents, in particular the paramyxoviruses, cccupy a prominent place as possible etiological agents. First, a number of studies have demonstrated that both the sera and cerebrospinal fluid of multiple sclerosis patients contain unusually high titers of measles antibody (2-4). Secondly, at least two investigators have reported either isolation of paramyxoviruses or the presence of viral nucleocapsids in the brains of patients with multiple sclerosis (5, 6). Finally, pathological examination of the brains of experimental animals infected with viruses such as canine distemper virus, a virus related to human measles virus, may occasionally cause demyelination of the canine brain tissue (7).

The Optimization of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Pulse Sequences in Order to Better Detection of Multiple Sclerosis Plaques
Background and objective: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is the most sensitive technique to detect multiple sclerosis (MS) plaques in central nervous system. In some cases, the patients who were suspected to MS, Whereas MRI images are normal, but whether patients don’t have MS plaques or MRI images are not enough optimized enough in order to show MS plaques? The aim of the current study is ...
متن کاملCombination of Myelin Basic Protein Gene Polymorphisms with HLA-DRB1*1501 in Iranian Patients with Multiple Sclerosis
Background: Multiple sclerosis (MS), as a multifactorial autoimmune disease with complex genetic basis, causes demyelination in the central nervous system via cytokine responses to myelin antigens. Myelin basic protein (MBP) is the main protein component of the myelin sheath. HLA-DRB (human leukocyte antigen-DR beta) alleles, particularly HLA-DRB1*1501, may be of significance in the pathogenesi...
متن کاملToll Like Receptor 2 and 4 Expression in Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells of Multiple Sclerosis Patients
Background: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a T cell mediated autoimmune disease with unknown etiology. Appropriate MS therapeutic strategies need thorough understanding of both disease etiology and pathogenesis mechanisms. Ligation of TLR-2 and TLR-4 stimulates the production of several cytokines leading to CNS autoimmunity and neurodegenerative diseases. Objective: To find a relationship between M...
متن کاملNumerical status of CD4+CD25+FoxP3+ and CD8+CD28- regulatory T cells in multiple sclerosis
Objective(s): Regulatory T cells, including CD4+CD25+Fox3+ and CD8+CD28- cells play an important role in regulating the balance between immunity and tolerance. Since multiple sclerosis is an inflammatory autoimmune disease, regulatory T cells are considered to be involved in its pathogenesis. In this study, we investigated the circulatory numbers of the two mentioned types of regulatory T cells...
متن کاملP 64: Micro-Rna Disorder and Multiple Sclerosis
Noncoding ribonucleic acids micro-RNA is involved in the regulation of gene expression have major roles in the post-transcriptional level. A micro-RNA alone several causes down regulation of mRNA transcript of the target. Thus, small changes in the expression of a micro RNA may lead to significant changes in gene expression are different. Micro- RNA as key regulators of immune cell lineage diff...
متن کاملNeurofilament light chain gene polymorphism and risk of multiple sclerosis in Iranian patients
Background: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic disease characterized by inflammation and degeneration of the central nervous system (CNS). High levels of Neurofilament light chain (NFL) and Neurofilament heavy chain (NFH) in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) have been associated with a wide range of neurological diseases including MS. Subjects and methods: Peripheral blood samples were collected from...
